Chicago, IL — July 10, 2001 — FairCom Corporation announced the latest release of the c-tree Plus File Handler V7.11 and the c-tree database Server V7.11.55 for the QNX® RTOS v6. These new releases of FairCom's embedded database products include a special server-side Software Development Kit (SDK) that allows the QNX application developer to add application-specific logic to the FairCom database server.
"FairCom's commitment to embedded application developers is evident when you look at the flexibility and control their technology provides," stated Linda Campbell, vice president of strategic alliances at QNX Software Systems. "This latest port will further strengthen their product offering by making FairCom technology available to the wide range of platforms supported by the QNX RTOS v6, including PowerPC, x86, StrongARM, and others."
"FairCom has been a development partner with QNX for many years," noted Randal Hoff, FairCom's Director of Business Development. "Our solutions have been deployed together in many different industries including the industrial, medical-equipment, telephony, and automotive fields. We are looking forward to the opportunities introduced with this latest QNX port."
The FairCom Server is ideally suited for embedded applications that require small memory overhead and disk footprint yet require high data throughput and control. The efficiency of the Server's threading engine, coupled with its flexible API has made it a popular choice for embedded PBX systems, network switching devices and point of sale systems. Further, since the FairCom Server mainline, threading engine, communication subsystem, sort/compare and disk I/O routines are supplied in full source, developers can tightly integrate their applications to create a small, efficient, application-specific database server.
The new release includes FairCom's powerful Server SDK, which allows customers to further expand the benefits of the client/server model by moving application-specific logic to the FairCom Server. This results in reduced network traffic by allowing the Server to perform data intensive operations directly on the same host computer where the data resides. Customers have used this functionality to perform intensive data calculations, custom sorts, special security/encryption needs, etc. "The release of the FairCom SDK with c-tree Plus follows FairCom's commitment to putting control in the hands of the developer," Hoff explains.
Pricing
c-tree Plus, including support for QNX RTOS v6, is priced at $895 with full source code and 28 free development Servers. Full support for over 25 platforms from Windows and Mac to Unix is included with each package. c-tree Servers for QNX RTOS v6 range from $745 to $5795, depending upon the number of connections.
