Capture Performance Statistics with c-treeACE Performance Monitor

Care to peek at the inner workings of the c-treeACE database engine? You can. The c-treeACE Performance Monitor tool graphically displays many captured statistics. For analyzing trends and patterns, the visual displays are not only informative, but fun to watch. As a client tool, you can connect to multiple servers and visually spot performance and operating differences.

View Statistics
Nine broad categories of information are presented, each on their own tabbed display:
- Read / Write - This group provides metrics for analyzing Read and Write operations to the c-treeACE files and communication buffers.
- Locks - This group provides metrics for analyzing the c-treeACE lock subsystem. Recall for performance reasons and consistent operation across platforms, c-treeACE maintains its own internal lock tables and does not rely on the operating system lock facilities.
- Miscellaneous - This group provides metrics for monitoring the current number of logical and physical files opened, the number of file control blocks, the number of users and the internal maximum allowable setting for each metric.
- Logs - This group provides metrics for analyzing the c-treeACE log subsystem including the number of log write and read operations, the amount of data written and read, and the number and amount of log file extensions that have occurred.
- Data / Index - This group provides metrics for analyzing the c-treeACE data and index cache facility.
- Transactions - This group provides metrics for analyzing the c-treeACE transaction processing subsystem including the number of transaction begins, ends, aborts, save points, restore points, log flushes and check points.
- Sync / Flush - This group provides metrics for analyzing file system calls including c-treeACE data file and transaction log sync and flush calls.
- Isam Operations - This group provides metrics for analyzing c-treeACE ISAM operations including adds, updates, reads and deletes.
- Memory - This group provides metrics for monitoring the current and maximum c-treeACE memory usage.
Capture Statistics
The c-treeACE Performance Monitor also allows you to record data for later analysis and comparison.
Using the Record and Playback buttons you can easily capture data of interest. Identify performance bottlenecks, or quickly compare performance tuning options.
The c-treeACE Performance Monitor tool is included in your c-treeACE installation. Look for it in your Start Menu under FairCom->Tools->Administration.
